Here are the MSDS sheets for Nitrogen Oxides. (NO and NO2)

The deadly brown fume is Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2)

Are you sure that you mean nitrous oxide? Because i think that nitrous oxide is n20 and not n0 or n02. Although i might be confused, i think a lungful of n20 will kill pain while n0 or n02 will put in a world of pain. :(

If you open the PDF it is in fact referring to the poisonous gas NITRIC OXIDE (NO) and NOT the common laughing gas, recreational drug and internal combustion engine additive NITROUS OXIDE (N2O).

I think the first PDF is labeled wrong.

Hey Irons:
your link shows a good example on how the oxides are labeled and called out!

Nitric oxide (NO), nitrogen(II) oxide
Nitrogen dioxide (NO2), nitrogen(IV) oxide
Nitrous oxide (N2O), nitrogen (I) oxide
Dinitrogen trioxide (N2O3), nitrogen(II,IV) oxide
Dinitrogen tetroxide (N2O4), nitrogen(IV) oxide
Dinitrogen pentoxide (N2O5), nitrogen(V) oxide

That should help people understand how to speak about the compounds.

..and the chemical reactions are there too.

Now you know why it's called NOx. Nitrogen is quite the Chameleon.
