A friend said that it was not recommended to reuse Lead from batteries or some other sources for lead shot for hunting due to the tin content in the lead that is used. Normally I only deal with precipitating out lead with sulfuric acid. This is something a little new. what would be the best course of action?

I’d suggest buying clean lead scrap and using that and avoid messing with lead refining.

It could be antimony. I dont mess with it. Didnt know if there was a simple process to it or not. I wont be messing with the stuff anyway nor do I want to. His question had me intrigued to say the least. Apparently it does something to the rifling of the barrel i guess. Thanks for all the replies.

There is a very simple mixture that recovers accumulators, by way of remelting where the antimony goes to slag and the lead compounds are reduced to lead too. Including iron nails, sand and coal
