Magnets do not capture gold, but they can help to capture some of the black sand which is heavy and hangs with fine gold.

Magnets can be used in fishing for black sands can pick up some gold which gets stuck in the batch of black sand as the magnet attracts it and clumps it magnetically together.

I don't think I will worry about putting magnets in my sluice box, I would worry more about angle, water flow and good miners moss or good sluice box matting to capture the gold and heavier black sands...

Eddy currents, whenever a conductor meets a changing magnetic field a current is induced to counteract the change.
It is proportional to the area of the conductor so a lot larger effect on large objects while a lot less on smaller. In other words, it would only affect large nuggets and all that fine gold would flow by without being affected.

Good try but... no, it won't work.

That would take me days so... no.

Every line seems to have a reference pointing to an article describing the effect they just mentions briefly. Read the references for more in depth information.
