Hello Everyone,

Every day I am getting closer and closer to refining my first batch. I have a fair about of scrap I have processed now and have begun collecting chemicals, labware and safety gear. Which brings me to my question.

I have acquired some (3) fume extractors from Nederman here is a link;
http://www.nedermanusa.com/gofer.php?&target=ek2000.html

The filter packs are charged with Activated Charcoal and that will be fine for Sulfuric acid mist, Nitric acid mist, chlorine gas. But it will not be effective on HCl, NO or NO2. I have found some products via this article;
http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=1073127 that I think might work on the HCl, NO and NO2. I am considering charging one of my EK2000's with a mix of 50/50 Sofnofil and Sofnolime, here are some product links; http://www.molecularproducts.com/products_detail.php?id=9 and http://www.molecularproducts.com/products_detail.php?id=1

My question is has anybody worked with these products? Can anyone suggest a size for the filter bed given a known flow rate of the EK2000 at 88 FPM and an average refining batch (disolving BM's in Nitric or Karat gold in AR) size under 1000 mL? The filter bed that came with it has a 27 sq. ft. filter and contains 3 lbs. of activated charcoal it can be replaced with an all carbon filter can with the same external dimentions but contains 14 lbs. activated charcoal. If charged the filter can with my 50/50 mix of Sofnofil and Sofnolime would this protect me? Does anybody know of any alternative products that might do the job a little cheaper?

Thanks!
Sam
