Greetings. I've had some good luck with A/P and pins not completely plated with gold, and of course gold fingers. I am running into an issue though with the gold plated pins. I don't really feel comfortable with Nitric and AR (I need to study more).

Does anyone have suggestions on how to get the gold off the completely plated pins I have? AP would take forever since the base metals aren't coming in contact with the AP. Am I stuck with Nitric, or is there another way to do this?

Thanks!

The reverse plating cell with concentrated sulfuric acid is very effective for this kind of material.

If you insist on dissolving the pins with copper chloride, then you could melt it down and pour the molten metal into water to make corn flakes of it. The gold will come down as a black silt but you can run it with standard methods without nitric or concentrated sulfuric.
