Would metal detector beep if I point it on ionic gold compound, for example gold chloride salt.

I know that mineralized soil is hard to search with metal detectors. I'm not sure that metal salts have the same magnetic qualities but I am sure that it absorbs radio waves better than organics do.

And what if it is in a solution?

take some to your local metal detector shop & test it.
i have never tried this due to the fact that i would never fine AuCl in nature

I do tend to find it easier to test for Gold Chloride using a drop of stannous. A metal detector would be a tad bulky.

I don't think so, metal detectors works on the induced currents in metallic objects. Gold chloride isn't metallic.

In my opinion, the answer is no. I have owned several metal detectors over the years. While technology is continually getting better, I do not believe that any metal detector made today could detect gold chloride in any form or concentration.
