I've had some gold on stainless that I've been meaning to run for quite some time...but really, who wants to run reverse AR?

All this time I've had it in my head that I have to fill a beaker with 70% nitric, then add HCl dropwise. For some reason I've been unable to comprehend that I don't have to use that large of an excess of nitric...

It's just been that kind of year.

Is there not some way to remove the gold from the solution through electrolysis? If there was a small amount of copper in solution, it would deposit the copper and the gold would cement out on the copper. Just a thought.

Lou and Chris mentioned how to get the gold out without neutralising the nitric only recently. Now I'm not entirely sure of the chemistry of how it operates but I wonder if that would lend itself to the nitric being reusable afterwards.
