Picked this up yesterday at a second hand store for $5.
(Always game for a $5 gamble!) Been going through sterling/plated symbols with no luck.
Curious if anyone here recognizes it?
I do not belive it is Danish, our 3 tower silver symbol are looking different, and it is always .830 silver.
Silver plate have one or two towers in Denmark.
Henrik
I have seen three towers before. It could be Danish or Norwegian. The towers not always look the same. (In my hand i am holding a fork with one tower and marked 830. Its from Norway.)
It can be older than the date they started stamp with 830 or other grades of silver. It looks quite old to me. Check it up properly so you do not scrap someting old and valuble.
Try to find the silversmith. There are sites with old Danish and Norwegan stamps.
If it is from a silver smith there will normally be letters or/and ciffers in combination with the mark.
Denmark and Norway always have it.
I belive the key in these case is it is a pewter mark.
Excelent link Gøran, thank you
Thank you all. Very good links. Maybe this helps someone else on a key word search.
Just for the record, silver or not, (almost positive it's pewter) it was confiscated by the wife and is now on the end table!
