Hello Fellow Forum Members

I've been a member of your site for a couple of years and during that time and gleaned some very useful information. However, this will be my first and probably last post. The reason is that I I've decided to get out of the refining business. There are a multitude of reasons. However, because this site has provided me with much free information, I've decided to try and return the favor. Because I am getting out that means I need to liquidate my inventory. Oh and what an inventory I have!

A combination of dumpster diving and working in the IT industry here in Silicon Valley, has provided me the opportunity to gather a wide array of gold scrap. I would estimate it to be well over 50 pounds. I figured that rather than sell it to some generic yahoo on eBay, I would like the fruits of my labors to go to someone on this site. I'm going to need to find somebody local to the Silicon Valley area to come and take a look at the lot. There's also a part of me that really wants to know how much gold would've actually been recovered from all of this (mostly for validation purposes to the wife! :D ).

So, here's the bottom line. I would like to find someone local to the Silicon Valley area to come over to my storage in San Jose and either make me an offer to purchase the entire lot or make arrangements for the person to do the recovery and refining to which I would receive a percentage of the gold recovered. PM me to make arrangements.

Thank you all!

Im sure you can offload the stuff to one of our family members in California.

But, can you post pics up of the scrap? ...even though I'm 30 hours drive from you, I'd still like looking at it. To me, it's better than dirty magazines.

Then some members here could even give you a ballpark of what you could have got.

If there are no takers, and it is good material. There are a couple places you can ship it off to and they will promptly pay you.

BTW - I just created this account the other day because I couldn't remember my previous username.
As I grow older I have those moments all the time! If you remember who you were, let me know and we can merge you back into one. 8)

This is just the top end stuff. I didn't have time to presentable thing else. But, if this doesn't arouse your interest then nothing else I have will. Yes, the 776 gram pile are credit card chips. Very thick layer of gold intended for many swipes. Hugh Hefner's got nothing on my Gold Porn!

Nice picture... :D

If I would pick a bowl there I would take the one with peeled traces.

Have you considered sending it off to someone and having them refine it for a percentage of the gold? With flat rate boxes you can ship a lot of high $$ scrap for 12 bucks.

That's what I was thinking--I don't want to invest in more e-scrap, but I (and I'm sure many others) would happily toll refine it.

Ohhhhhh yeah!
That's the ticket!

I hate escrap, but I too, would love to toll refine it.
Just because that is one of the most beautiful pictures I have seen in awhile...
...and the fact I just got 15 gallons of nitric I'm itchin to use on some gold!

lol...I almost said "like Topher" when I said you could send it to someone.

Seriously, high grade scrap, you really can't beat the value involved with having someone like you do it. The only reason I haven't sent you a bunch is because I actually want to learn how to do it well...but it's still tempting.

I actually have considered that snoman701. As I stated in my original post I would also be interested in spliting the proceeds with someone who was more adept at the process than I am, I also have a couple of gallons of 37% HCL that I would be willing to contribute to the cause. As stated previously, that would also allow me to provide validation to my wife and stepmother that I wasn't actually crazy when I was collecting all of this stuff! I will try to and other pictures of the rest of the scrap that I have. Which includes hundreds of CPUs, hundreds of DIMMS & SODIMMS. This is why I wanted somebody local to come over and take a look at it.

@g_axelsson The credit card chips actually produced the prettiest results, with the gold actually being able to be skimmed right off the top.

:D

Thank you all for the vote of confidence.

I honestly couldn't even begin to make a guess as to what the end value of the material would be. There are a couple great formulas on the forum that can help get a pretty good ballpark of their yield.
But, like all scrap, it can (and will) certainly vary a bit.

I wouldn't need the HCl, if you chose to have it toll refined with me, I get it for $5 a gallon locally, so it is a very minimal expense. With the deal I got on nitric as well, that will be next to nothing also.
I just finished a bunch of goldfilled I had to do, so the only thing on my To-Do list, is some keyboard mylars.

We can talk about it further if you would like to send me a PM, or, we can talk about it on open forum. I don't think my rates are so terrible that I need to keep them behind closed doors. (heck, some even said I'm too cheap![not including my wife! ])

If you are just wanting to unload it all for cash to someone though, there has to be a forum member or 5 in your (reasonably local) area. California is a big and beautiful place!

I wish I was closer, it's a tempting lot.

If you can skim the gold right off the top, it isn't very heavy. Nice gold is the stuff that sinks fast to the bottom of your beaker. Also, if you only skimmed off the gold from the credit cards then you probably missed out on the bond wires. You need to incinerate it to get the wires.

I still prefer the peeled traces, even easier to process than gold filled as there is only copper and minor nickel to dissolve, then filter and aqua regia refining would yield a nice product.

Topher will do a good job for you.

That's a "nice" batch of material

I agree with silversaddle here - I would trust Topher to do a toll refine for you :!:

I would also be interested in toll refining it for you but will leave it to Topher being as how he beat me to the offer

Again, Thank you guy's -a lot- for voicing your confidence in me.
It gives me a great sense of pride, and immense feeling of joy to have your blessing's.

...that picture IS a beautiful work of art though, and I do not take the responsibility lightly, of turning it into something even more beautiful.

Thank you all again :!:
