There's no such thing as too big, only too big for the job at hand. I thought I was all set with my 6" funnel, until I used a 12".....then I used a 24" and felt the sting of incompetence when it had to be returned.
The wider it is the more holes it has and the more liquid you can get through it in a given time. Therefore the less time it takes to filter a given volume.
Does it matter though? Not really if you have plenty of time.
