So I’ve read enough to know that I shouldn’t used a cast iron crucible to melt gold in. My question is, would it be ok to use a cast iron crucible that is slightly larger than my graphite crucible (or maybe even a ceramic dish) to put over the graphite crucible and heat the cast iron from the top with a torch as well the graphite from the bottom with a different torch or could that possibly cause some type of reaction I would want to avoid?
And honestly, I’m thinking ahead here, I’m just concerned about potentially blowing gold out.
