Hi guys,
I need to granulate some silver for inquartation and would like to know if there are any cautions or suggested methods for doing so without losing silver to the atmosphere. I have both a MAPP gas torch as well as an Oxy-Acetylene rig. Can it be torch melted in a ceramic or graphite crucible? Since this is refined silver (.999) is treating the crucible with borax necessary or preferred before doing so? I recall hearing that graphite crucibles cannot/should not be glazed with borax. Is this true? A little insight would be appreciated.
