I've been buying gold/silver jewelry coins for quite some time, and want to learn the process of refining scrap jewelry (14k,18k) into 24k. Because of the chemicals and value of the Au I'd like to observe a refining operation first hand, specifically in the Boston Massachusetts area. If you have a set up in this area and would be willing to take on a student, we could talk about details and possibly meet up.
I'm not as interested in refining gold from computers, or catalytic converters, but primarily in refining scrap to 999 purity and making ingots or rounds.
Thanks for reading,
Joe
P.S. I have a basic understanding of chemistry
