Hi all,
I've been working on and off on a project for a while now... actually since last April. A few members know about this project and I already have one guest that have tested it.
Over time the forum has become harder and harder to search and there are few of us that actually have read every page. The ratio of new contributions to just the same questions asked over and over again is going down and old good threads gets lost in the noise. The question has been discussed before...
... but I've spent 10 minutes and I can't find any other posts than GoldSilverPro:s http://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=62&t=20063
I had thought about the problem before GSP:s post and come to the conclusion that a wiki site would be the best way to collect all the knowledge on the forum. What I hadn't realized was the amount of work required. I didn't want to just make an empty website without some structure. So I started adding pages with links back to GRF as GSP suggested. After a while I realized I wanted to do more so I started to research some areas that I was interested in.... then it struck me that I could make the site around Hoke's book... Bad idea, it's format doesn't translate so easily but I still wanted to have the book online so it would be possible to link to a specific page. The book became a separate project and the structure of the wiki started to emerge by itself as I added more pages.
The early pages are quite bad and needs rewriting, some pages are only a link to the forum. The safety and dealing with waste is almost non existing...
A few points...
But with all that said, welcome to the GoldRefiningWiki.com I hope we can make it into something special together.

A few points...
* The wiki is open for editing from anyone that creates an account. I don't know how it is going to work out, if it becomes a problem I'll restrict editing to only approved members.
* I suggest looking at the code from a page you think is good and copying it if you want to create a new page.
* If you find anything to improve, please do. As it is a wiki anything done can be undone so there are no danger of destroying something.
* The main purpose of this site is to be a resource for the refining community. I will give it quite a lot of liberty to grow but if I find a lot of abuse then I will have to put up limits.
* The site is run on my server at home. There might be down times and the site might be off line when doing upgrades / testing or just my router breaking down... Unless I'm getting a large sponsoring contract that will not change. 8)
* I have added a google ad to the sidebar, it will give some money for running the server, But I configured it so that it should disappear if you are logged in. It's easier to remove ads from the site than adding it later on when people have made contributions.
* I will allow commercial presentations of both sellers and buyers as long as it is short and factual. For example a list of what material you sell/buy and prices, location, contact info and so on. Commercial pages should be objective, like the wikipedia style.
* Personal pages are encouraged, share your projects and add links to the forum where you describe them. Discussions is better kept on the forum.
* Hoke's book is all on the wiki now. As it's a wiki it's easy to add the warnings that is needed. For example here on page 48.
But with all that said, welcome to the GoldRefiningWiki.com I hope we can make it into something special together.
