I attempted to use a solution of aqua regis with 14k. This is the turnout, is there any reason that this might have happened? I think that it could be linked to the heat, the acid, or an unequal ratio. If anyone has encountered this problem, insight on it would be appreciated to hear.

In regards to the photo, the gold did not fully react, and it is in the west side of the glass beaker.

thank you

You didn't say anything about inquartation or rolling but this is just a screenshot from an old post..But maybe it will help you with your questions. Did you just put the 14k in question straight to AR?

You dried your solution out. Add Hydrochloric acid once the beaker cools. If the glass is too hot, the liquid will cause thermal shock and break the glass.
then you will need to add a bit of nitric to disolve the gold.
