iv had this question in my mind for 15 years now

when I was 17 I was mixing a bag of shock (chlorine for a pool) with a stick in a 5 gallon bucked like I had done a hundred times for my parents pool. except this time I had leaned down close to the bucket for some reason. watching the mixing I guess when I took a deep breath and it was all cl gas because I immediately couldn't breath anymore. this lasted like 30-60sec. it was scary as hell. eventually I started breathing fine with no long term issues. is this the same type of gas one would get when mixing HCl/Cl? or is that different? how harmful was that?

many of the gases formed from what we do will make acids in your lungs.
