i have done a cianide leaching of this material and got a lot of copper;does copper comes out in great quantities in cyanide leaching-? i have done (i think the right think)----after leached, to the filtrate naoh was added to ph 14 and zinc (4 times estimated gold) was added - after another filtration the zinc was dissolved with h2so4 and i was left with a brown powder containing the gold and a lot of copper

This is not really in answer to your question Arthur, but more of a question to like Chris or Harold.

Isn't the trick to making cyanide more "selective" for gold, to run it very dilute?

That's correct. If it it held in the vicinity of .02%, it is supposed to ignore copper.
