What a lot of great info!!! :D Its taken awhile to plow through and I still have to go back and reread a lot.

I used to have a computer shop and saved a lot of boards hoping to one day find a way to recover the PMs. Unfortunately, I needed the space and sold the lot on eBay. Wish I had held onto those old 486s and Pentiums now!

I have recently started running some ads on Freecycle and Craigslist and have gotten quite a few offers, including one from a large thrift store to pick up their unusable computers every couple of weeks. I also got a bunch of PII computers along with several Vax and Alpha servers and workstations.

So far, I have been mostly selling the boards and newer CPUs on eBay. I am saving all the ceramic processors and some of the choicer boards for future processing.

My main occupation is as a Medical Technologist in a hospital lab so I am used to working with chemicals. I look forward to trying my first batch. This looks like a fun, interesting and potentially profitable hobby!

Welcome Mike.

You could also watch for broken hospital equipment. They sometimes contain a great amount of precious metals ;)

Good luck !
