hello,
I am new to this but i have been collectings e-waste and different pins and connectors and have a pretty big stock pile.
i am curious about a method to remove gold plating(various thickness) from contacts.
for example a 3pos maintained switch (AB)

they have nice gold plated contacts. some are thicker than others and have a richer color.
theyre fully plated so im not getting anything by soaking them in A/P for a week or so.

maybe some tips or link to a video or topic located on the website. i am unable to find anything other than "fully plated pins"

I do gold plated contacts in nitric since there is a lot of silver in the ones I have.
Fully plated pins do take longer in AP, but it does work.
Martijn.

ok thank you.
i havent yet tried nitric acid.

i am new and taking things slow before i tried using nitric acid.

i guess i will add them to the pile of things i need more experience before attempting.
thanks man
