So I have quite a few used tonometer probes that I’m one day going to extract the gold from. The probes are essentially a base metal wire plated in gold. I suspect the gold plate is relatively thick though as its there for function, not looks. (Basically the instrument induces a magnetic field in the wire, which pops out with a known force and then based on how it bounces, the unit can determine eye pressures, the gold is there for uniformity and the base metal for regidity).
Anyways, wondering if anyone has suggestions on best way to extract the gold.
I’m not really interested in the economics of it, mostly interested in the ease of extraction with minimal equipment and easiest to obtain materials.

Maybe the simplest method would be to cut the wires into small pieces and then use AP to remove the copper leaving the gold behind.
