gold plating solution

How would I make a gold plating solution.
On ebay there are items that have 18K plating
How can you adjust the Karat so that it is 10K ,14K etc.
I know that there are a few methods
I think cyanide method is cheaper
I wont be surprised if Chris has already posted something on this subject
So maybe just a direction to the link will be enough

Most baths that are called 18K, 14K, etc., are actually about 23K. They just have an 18K or 14K color. There are exceptions. Most all good baths are based on potassium gold cyanide or sodium gold sulfite. Both can be made from gold chloride although the conversions can be dangerous. There's the possibility of producing explosive gold fulminate. Besides the gold compounds, there are usually at least 2 other ingredients in the baths. These formulations are proprietary but most are covered by patents.
