Hi guys just a quick question on the muriatic/chlorox method for disolving foils. Does this method only dissolve gold or if other base metals are present will it also dissolve them? I have watched steves video several times but he starts off with clean foils with only a small amount of solder mask as contamination there appear to be no other metals present. I have some foils that are from memory fingers that have a little remaining base metal contamination, would this method allow me to remove only the gold as aucl3 and leave the contaminents behind? I think the base metals are mainly copper and iron.

It would be best to finish the job of eliminating the base metals.

HCL/CL dissolves base metals that will complicate your recovery.

The cleanest solutions are the easiest to complete.
