Hey y’all, long time reader first time poster.
I just purified my first ounce of gold, had it XRF’ed and it was .99 fine. Very happy with the results.
Since I just melted a large button I haven’t put it into a mold yet. Its a little splotchy and not clean so I want to remelt it into a mold. My issue is that I have this wild fear that the gold will pop when I pour it into the mold. I’ve read about sooting, preheating for moisture, and about using a flame for the pour. Will this guarantee no loss due to gold popping out or is there anything else I can do to prevent this? Thanks a lot for your time; sorry if this is a repeat post, the search was 39 pages and after about 10 I just decided to post. Cheers!
