Rick,

I've been following your Ore Bin thread and I'm really enjoying it, thank you for sharing your knowledge with everyone.

If you have the time could you give me some information on these specimens:

The gray colored rock is very hard and causes a spark when struck with a hammer, it is very difficult to break.

All of the rocks were retrieved within a few hundred feet of each other.

I'm hoping some of them prove to contain precious metals.

Anything your trained eye can gleam from the photos and share here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Thanks Steve.

I'm just trying to make available the grade of info
and help that I would have liked to of received when I first started out.

Closeups 1,2,3,4,7,9, and 10 are varietes of Andesite,
and are associated with mountain building processes.

Closeup 5 appears to be Basaltic Andesite admixed with Gabbro.

Closeups 6 and 8 are Quartz admixed with Albite on Andesite.
The "Rust Stains" indicate the Presence of Sulfides.

Closeups 4,6,and 10 are prime candidates for you to assay.
I can't see any specific mineralization,
but the rust stains do indicate the presence of Sulfides.

They are the ones that I would inspect/test for possible Gold content.
Closeups 4 and 10 especially.

Closeup 3 interests me a lot.

It might just have been super heated to cause it to become burnt black,
but I suspect that the color is due to an abundance of metal.
Which metal it is, I am not sure.

If that Black Rock has a "High Heft", it would be worth having a
"Full Spectrum Analysis" done on it to find out what metal it is.

I hope that this has been helpful.
If I notice anything further about your photos, I'll make a post stating what I overlooked.

Sincerely; Rick."The Rock Man".

Great post as usual Rick!

Thank you,

Steve

Thanks Steve.
Thanks for the Photos and reply as well.

If you find, or have any other rocks that you would like for me to look at,
post photos, and I'll let you know what I can see from looking at them.

Sincerely; Rick."The Rock Man".
