Does anyone know if there is anything besides platinum that will show a light orange color when tested with stannous?

It started off clear and then after a minute or two, it turned brown. Now, after about 5 minutes, it has turned to a faint orange color.

There shouldn't have been any pt in the solution, only gold.
The gold has already been dropped with smb.

I have been fooled by iron before. In a spot plate iron is like curds of rust instead of a colored solution, on a swab you can't see them. What were you running that would have contained platinum?

I think you hit the nail on the head about the iron as, it's not the same color I usually get from pt containing solutions.

Thanks for the help.
