stanous chloride tests

sometimes my stanous chloride gives a light brown purplish collor for gold and the result is some gold---other times the test gives deep brown purple collor and the gold result is not as expected---i read that strong color as purple brown shows a lot of gold---what is happening?or these dubious results are comon(normal)---my test solution is 20gram sncl2 crystals dissolved in 10cc of hcl and all dissolved to a litre with water---i make a new test solution every 3weeks for precaution---thanks for clearing my doubts
