Hi guys,
I have been exploring this site on and off for the last couple of weeks and have been not only astounded by the sheer beadth of knowledge but probably more importantly the willingness of members to freely impart information for the good of the group.

I have been researching the refining of precious metals from scrap for the past year and would certainly have been able to progress much faster if I had been aware of this site. It did not take long searching through this site to come across Lazersteves gold recovery page and his reverse electrolysis cell. Very cool, simplicity used to practically explain a very comprehensive process, this is now my main focus. I have many questions I would love to ask about some of the practicalities using this method in due course.

My main aim at is to start recovery and refining on a small experimental scale by the end of the year. We 'll see how we go good or bad.

Although my area of expertise is in Electronics Engineering, I have never had the inclination to involve myself in any type of forum before especially one which is about the practical application of chemistry and metallurgy. I think that it will be a fair period of time before I will be able to make contribution that will be able to counter the information that I have been able to obtain so far. We live in hope.

Anyway, Hello, and I hope to slowly bumble my way through life on a forum that I think has many good things going for it.

Bluebagger.

Welcome, bluebagger,

Unfortunately, the info on this forum is very spread out. You never know where you will find what, but it's mostly all there somewhere. Sometimes, 3 or 4 totally different subjects will be covered in one thread. We tend to get off the subject but, that seems to be the nature of the beast. If you can't find what you need, just ask. We're usually very prompt at answering questions.

Thanks,
It seems to me that the key seems to lie in forming a process of simple clear steps and then slowly building up. As you implied the infomation is probably already somewhere (either onsite or as literature) and it will probably pay to research first.

From what I see, it pays the best dividend asking your question within the most appropriate forum.

Whichever way you go you're on a winner. If you are suddenly able to do a sanity check if things are'nt going according to plan or you become unsure of progress during a refine, there is a chance that the goup may be able to help. Making for a much better chance of success.

Here' the 10 cent guided tour link:

You may have already seen it, if so be sure to read thru it as it will give you the foundation required to understand a lot of the shorthand we use here.
