This is a summary of my knowledge for refining old jewelry
50 grams of 10K gold

1) I would mix an equal amount of copper and melt it
2) then quartation this amount to have small pellets
3) in a glass container mix nitric acid to get rid of the base metals
4) dry it use urea to get rid of excess nitric acid
5) use Aqua Regia to dissolve the gold
6) precipitate with SMB
7) keep the liquid for silver
8) keep the gold and dry it and melt it

If anyone can add a few comments to impove this technique that would be nice
Thanks

10 karat jewelry easy dissolve in nitric acid not use equal amount of copper.when whole base matel is dissolve in nitric acid let add distill water ( not use mineral water because chlorine is present in minral water) and settle out gold powder then siphon off dilute nitric acid .then make aquaregia put in glass container neutralization with urea and then use smb .
