Hi everyone on the boards. I appologize for posting to the wrong area first, just too excited to learn and lost track of which section I was in. My name is Dennis and am very happy to be here. I have the basic high school chemistry class background and can follow recipes. I am an electronic technician (tv repair guy lol) and have dealt with electronics and computers for 15 years.

I found Steve's site almost by accident on a google search for "gold recovery" and it was linked in one of the top pages. I then found the link to the forums on Steve's site to get here. Thank you Noxx for having the forums for people to learn and share experience.

The main reason Im really following this hobby now is that I want to make a unique wedding ring for my girlfriend to propose to her with. I had a ring making course in my crafts class in high school and always wanted to make more jewelry. Gold is great, but she wants a platinum ring (yikes). With my budget fairly thin, I wanted to take in this hobby and get the most out of it I can and help save some local land fills. If we think about it how much can you break a computer down to.... steel, aluminum, gold, copper, plastics, some bigger electronic parts to resell for hobbyists and then the pc boards being the most of the bulk that gets tossed.

I appreciate everyone that took time to read my mini novel. I hope I can contribute some insight on your projects. I dont want to hi-jack the forums to make it a repair forum, but maybe there is a piece of electronics that you find that others dont know about that yield some fair values.

Happy scrapping, be absolutely safe, and have a great day!
