This is my first time on the Forum and I am so amazed that this exists! Does anyone have information about potential hazards using Gold Chloride... plating or the chemicals? I understand the aluminum chloride gas is dangerous! Thanks to all!

This is the wrong section. I've moved it to safety.

Gold (III) chloride is corrosive. It's an oxidizing agent. It's a skin sensitizer. It's a poison.

My advice: type "chloroauric acid MSDS" into google.

Also, AlCl3 isn't a gas at standard temperatures and pressure. You can, however, sublimate it (and get something like Al2Cl6). It forms a polymer at room temperature.
It's only dangerous if anhydrous because it reacts with water to give HCl gas. It's a very strong Lewis acid.
