I know that different acids will dissolve different metals at different temperatures. I understand that gold will never dissolve in hydrochloric acid/peroxide nor nitric acid.

My specific problem is that I put a pentium III processer in muriatic acid and and added peroxide. Gold foil from the pins was floating on the top. However, when I warmed the mixture, all of the gold dissappeared.

What happened to the gold? Did it breakdown into pieces so small that I can't see them? How would I recover the gold at this point?

Joe,

It is well documented that gold will dissolve in AP. You can drop the gold with SMB after the reaction is over.
