Hello,
Just a quick question.
I'd like to know what gold in what form jewelers prefer to buy ?
Ex: Flakes, Powder, Bars, Rods, etc

Thanks in advance :p

We will pretty much buy it in any form.

Something solid would be a preference. Powder might be a little tough. I know what it is but it would be questionable to most jewelers.

Had a guy once bring me 10oz of casting grain long ago. The grain was smaller than I was used to seeing. Acid tested fine. Claimed to be 14k. Too small to put a file to. But the stuff seemed strange. So I hit a few grains with a ball hammer. No deformation! That was odd. I hit it again and again. One finally broke open and the center was steel with heavy gold plating. I threw the bum out of my store. I have tons of stories like this.

You can't go wrong with shot. It's easy for you and the buyer to weigh, and makes alloying a snap. Many jewelers prefer to not buy alloyed gold shot. By keeping pure on hand, they can create the alloy they need, minimizing the amount of gold they must inventory.
