Litharge doesn't start reducing to molten Lead, until around 1600 F. Assayers, and common sense, will say this collects the PMs better, as the Litharge is in a finer state, providing better contact with PM particles, plus the fact that it doesn't coagulate in the bottom of a crucible, like metallic Lead wiould at 400F.

Ok I am going to cupel some silver, about 10 lbs. How much lead to silver do I need to use?

Cupeling is usually an Assay technique and due to the toxicity of Lead should not be used for other things.
What material do you have, maybe there are better methods.
