tell me about his test

What exactly are you testing for? Gold, silver, platinum, etc?

This link might help you out a bit. It shows the colors of some positive stannous results.

Sebastian, please give us a little more information so we can help you.

What type of solution are you testing? AR, CuCl2, HCl/Bleach, something else?

What type of material did you process? Karat jewelry, jewelers scrap, eWaste?

How did you get to the point of testing? Just finished adding the rest of the nitric or bleach, deNOxed, heated after bleach?

To me, I don't see any precious metals, but it could be the lighting, or how the colors look on my computer screen.

Tell us more and perhaps we can help a little more

Dave

You should have a known gold solution (or a solution of the metal you are testing for) to verify your stannous is working. Put that beside the solution being tested to compare if you are uncertain.

If you still have oxidizers in your solution the reaction could be a temporary ones and the color disappears in a short while.

Read http://goldrefiningforum.com/phpBB3/download/file.php?id=16976 and do some experiments.
