Hello all , I'm a newbie and I'm attempting to leach gold from an ore that has sat for years and I'm not sure It has gold or if it's just pyrite help?

...this, filter the iodine solution from the ore, and wash the ore with a small amount of pure ethyl alcohol. By evaporating this solution (under a hood or in the open air - iodine vapor is toxic) and calcining the cup to 250oC-300oC, you will get a more or less approx. the weight content of...

...to be acid resitant, or it will have a short life. Another option is to power a venturi with it, so the venturi can suck in air from the fume hood without going through the fan. While building your lab, make room for waste treatment buckets and drums. That fume from the stockpot could...

For the LIFE of me I cannot get my gold to drop! 😭

    1) I have a fume hood. 2) I only use a tiny couple of prills of urea when denoxxing. My solution was cold and it is hard enough getting sulfamic to dissolve in hot water, but urea will react no matter what. I only use a few prills just to tell me if I need to use sulfamic or not. I didn't...

Best methods of gold concentrate analysis

...answer was focused on my local "enviroment", where the idea spread among some small scale refiners and had some impact. Construction of such a hood is modular, and materials are available all aroud the globe (as IBC containers are accessible and common in many many places). I don´t know if...

E-waste scrap in chemical to be processed

If I may ask, what did the faint smell of nitric smell like to you? I am a beginner as well and I saw all of the fumes getting sucked out of my fume hood but still smelt something in the air. Almost smelt like chlorine

Wow! Thank you for that process explanation! Fantastic! I haven't played with silver yet but from all I've read, it seems to behave quite differently than gold.

The air or exhaust out can also be changed by how much air can enter the hood (you can only suck so much air outa Coca-Cola bottle til it will...

Measuring cupric nitrate in solution in a silver nitrate/silver electolysis cell

I did not study the subject in depth but a drawback would be that high concentrations of nitrate ion can degrade the oximes and make the consumption of the active compound of the extraction solvent at prohibitive levels. I asked the manufacturers of 2 solvents for copper in nitric acid...

I am building a fume hood currently and that isn't too big a deal a for me as a former finish carpenter. My exhaust is 10in which will be scaled down to whatever I need...

    I'm a newbie...Glad to be here.

I love the fact that you're only talking fume hood details and waste treatment and no process, source material or cry for immediate help with a chemical mess has been discussed. Hat's off to your wonderfull approach sir! Bookmarked this one for educative purposes.

E-waste scrap in chemical to be processed

Yep, I thought it was too much SMB. I also rinse it out with HCL. I"m glad I was wearing my respirator, I didn't smell it. Thanks for the fume hood tip. I figured it was an air flow issue needing some baffling of some sort. I figured I would go through blowers, so I will check out the venturi. I...

    Buying a fume hood

Firstly, I do not have experience with manufactured hoods, but what I can tell you from the start, try to take one where is minimal ammount of any metal parts in the "active" part of the hood, exposed (no matter if painted or not). If possible, you want everything to be plastic, vent pipe to be...
