Does anyone know a ballpark figure for scrap value on an factory '85 Dodge Caravan catalytic converter? A neighbor has one and I would like to pick up for a fair price.

If he was planning on just throwing it away, then don't just give him like 10 bux or something.

if your neighbor doesn't have the experience or knowhow to recycle the cat himself then I don't see any problem with doing that.

otherwise its just a smashed piece of useless junk.

off one cat I have harvested about 1/2 gram of silver metal, not sure of the value, but Ive only process about 1/8 of the pulverized dust.

I'd imagine there is roughly enough to make 1 ring inside those things.

high end cars like mercedes,jag,porsche and such are worth about 180-210 usd

toyota,honda, subaru are worth about 150-180 usd

GM cats are worth 150 usd the ones that say AC on them the older Gm's with the beads instead of the honeycob are worth about 75 usd there are so many different typs of cats that it is hard to guess at what you have

dodge/chry from 45 to 80 usd

ford 20-50

diesel cats up to 10000 usd some contain up to 6 ounces of pgm's these are very large cats.

i'm looking for my website to give you up to date prices when i find it i'll post it,i'm doing this from memory and could be off on my prices a bit since last i looked plat was 2100 and ounce and now is 1850
