If you had 60# of amalgam pellets what would you do?
My thought is dissolve it all in nitric, drop the silver as a chloride and convert with Karo/lye.

Would I then cement the HG out with copper for proper storage/disposal or should I do something completely different?

Build a big retort maybe?

Appreciate all the experts here to offer some input!

The big issue here is to wash the silver chloride from mercurous chloride (Calomel) by AR or HNO3 several times, until AgCl is completely free of mercury - you would not want mercury to appear when you melt

Dave,

It's best to just send that to Bethlehem Apparatus and let them return the silver to you. They're set up to do it and they're very good at it.

Soluble mercury salts are no joke.
