I have 5lbs of dryed ammonium chioride that has not been opened, it is 4 to 5 years old - will it still be good to use. Second i am making up some testing solutions, should i make a solution of ammonium chioride for any tests.
Thanks
Ken

I do not Know if your ammonium chloride is still good or not, some chemicals like food can have an expected shelf life, but like a can of beans one can will spoil after a few years and the other can (canned at the same time) may not have spoiled and would be good to eat.

Here are a few interesting things to read.

Jenje,

If the ammonium chloride has been kept sealed and away from basic conditions (ph>7) it should be fine.

Have you seen my post on treated and untreated ammonium chloride?

Types of NH4Cl
