I'm still working on processing the telecom boards that I was tasked with and have run into a small issue.
There is a large portion of female pins inside socket connectors and they are plated on inside surfaces which the sulfuric cell may not strip so my next best option is cyanide stripping. As I am not experienced enough to properly deal with the chemical and do not really have the time to find and take a training course for it my next best option is to pay someone to do it.
I'm estimating about 5lbs of pins that would not be suitable for the sulfuric cell due to non line of sight surfaces.
Depending on location and fees involved I might also be interested in having all the pins I have run in one go, which should be and additional 20 to 25lbs, all from the telecom boards only.
Would there be anyone recommended to do such a job in SW Ontario Canada. I'm near Windsor but driving to the Toronto area would not be a problem.

Thanks
Tom.

The above thread has some discussion of a company that does cyanide recovery. I've never used them and can't really add any more.
How's the scene down in Windsor for buying and selling gold and silver? I'm wondering if the metals end up going to the US, if it's all locked up or if there is room for competition. You're just down the road from me  , I'm in London. We're both in strong contention for unemployment capitol of Ontario, but we've totally got you beat on the number of international terrorists!

Thanks for the reply,
I've seen that thread and from what I recall I don't have the volume to meet the min requirements.
Not really sure on the scene yet, I'm just getting started in actual recovery after a long time researching processes and harvesting my modest material flows. I would bet there is always room for competition, it can help keep the recovered material value up for us little guys. :)

I've had to think long and hard about replying on this subject but i can insure you one thing is certain, keep driving and don't look back. I honestly don't think London was impacted as hard as Windsor when the big three filed and pulled out of here. Yes, some work stayed but 1000's of jobs were lost and many lost their homes & lifestyles along with it. A lot of the feeder plants were also directly effected and hours were slashed a weeks were shortened. In an area of a little over 200,000 people there were reports of unemployment rates as high as 10% but we all know this was not the real number and things were far worse. All this was just in the last few years and we may never see the times like before because the big three were not the only ones that left. I worked for a company that handled international shipments and we got a lot of jobs that were companies needing our services for shipping all their equipment to Mexico because they as well were moving to stay competitive. On a side note, there are a dozen or so scrap yards/recycling centers that I personally know of and they are all in short distances from each other. I've seen ads of people buying gold at 95% spot price, trust me I've been tempted to contact a few of them but have refrained for now. You don't have to like what I have to say or believe me this is just my take on things I've lived here my whole short life of 31 years. So yeah there's always room for competition but when your making pennies on the dollar you can only sustain yourself for so long unless you are very smart on how you invest your time and money.

Interesting. 95% is better than you can get in London from any brick and mortar business except Daniel (member fasttcar), and that's for multi oz of karat gold. I wonder how the scrap yards pay out. When you have a dozen yards all competing for the same business it's likely pretty competitive. The yards here have always payed out well on copper and brass. They have a decent margin on the steel I think, but i don't know how far they have to ship it to reach a steel mill, or what that costs, but i would think there should be an accessible mill somewhere on the great lakes in easy shipping distance. Does Zug island process scrap steel?

No question that Windsor has been getting beaten for a longer time than London, which probably means more people have dropped right out of the workforce, more people have moved away, which doesn't make the unemployment numbers.

Not to sure about Zug I haven't had to look that deep into it. Steel prices are decent but anyone who is anyone that knows better sends the non ferrous to london. Even though there is many places open for business its like braking teeth to get strait forward answers or better pricing.
