I was wondering how long a batch of Aqua Regia will stay good for. If I leave it in an open container, will it loose its characteristics? If so, what can I do to keep it good?

Yes it looses strength with time. Never seal any containers having AR. It releases Chlorine gas and pressure will build up. The best way to keep it is not to mix the two reagents until your material is ready to be processed !

is there a way to tell if the ar is too concentrated with dissolved material and won't dissole any more?
