It seems to be the same book but much more clear.

I'll take it. If there is a second edition then please post a link to it, otherwise this one will do.

Thanks.

Does anybody have the second edition??

The edition copyrighted in 1997?? These are all 1984. I'd like the edition where he goes into e-scrap too.

Thanks

Well it seems that the best copy of this book is the first edition that's available on pdf at this forum.
The copy at ScienceMadness is full of typos and missing letters for some reason. Probably a bad scanner or something like that. The DeajVu copy is also not as good as the pdf here...

I'll probably print the first edition and end up buying the second edition. The cheapest that I can find it is $120! It was made in 1997 for goodness' sakes.

I'll keep looking though, if anybody can find it cheaper then please pm me!

Thanks all.

Well that file shows two pages per page in the pdf.

Like the book was opened and two pages scanned to the pdf at one time.

However, if you still want it it's available within this section of the forum. It's an RAR file.

Regards!

I ordered the book for $59 this week. I just found this forum today, looks like it will be very helpful to me!

I have a lot of concentrates with gold & platinum and I want to get the palladium & rhodium too. They have about 15 oz gold & 5 oz PGM in 10# of fines. A miner has been collecting the concentrate and basically will cut me in on the increased profit from extracting the Gold/Pt/Pd/Rhodium for him. I am short on cash but I have some cases of conc HCL and Nitric acid that I need to do something with. So I am thinking AR is the way for me to get started. I have some chemistry background from college, 36+ units in chemistry, and did extractions in a lab on campus for a year, but that was 18 yrs ago..lol Anyway, I will keep poking around the forum and see what information I can find. I know this is a gold forum but the PGM is what I am concerned about the most now.

Here is a link to the book for $59:

Someone mentioned a rar copy of the file here somewhere?? I would like to find the too.. then i can keep my book in good condition and make notes on printed pages..lol Thanks!

Aqua regia will do it, the information and alot of chemistry help is on this forum to get the metals you desire if they are in the ore, good to have another chemist on the site,I have been teachong myself chemistry, and can use all the help I can get.

I picked up a second edition copy the first weekend of November and read through most of it. As a dislexic, I sometimes surprize myself.

The chapter on blacksands that I was asking about is every bit of what I was looking for. Very informative about all the PM's and how to identify and process them. The chapters on placer mining equipment and identifiing PM's are also great. Refining methods in this book give me enough information to help with C.M.Hoke's book when I get it soon. I'm finding out how much platinum is in my blacksands now. Not a lot, but every little bit counts.

I saw an article about prospector Ed and his book on testing and identifiing precious metals in this forum. I met him at a gold Rally in Oroville,Wa and bought he book (6th edition is out). It's great reading and written for a lay person to read and understand.

C.M.Hoke's book on Refining Precious Metal Waste will be my next book to get. I ordered a copy today.

Between Nox, Lou, Rag and bones, Steve and so many more of you, I will be educated very well for being a prospecting recycling redneck.

Great forum Thanks Jim
