a few years back... like in 1999, when I was just getting into burning CD's there were various colors of cd's, and the grades were green, blue, GOLD and PLATINUM.

ok my question is since at the time Pt and gold both were not as spendy as it is now and the foils inside a CD were very thin, were any actually made of precious metals or was it just advertising and hype. I remember paying about double back then for what was called Platinum/Platinum as they were said to have the data transfer to them with less troubles and lst longer in playing back.... I only have a couple of them left around somewhere [am not going to fish right now through several hundred old data cd's to find the ones I might have left to sample] but I was wondering if anyone knew outright.

I know the one that NASA put on Gemini was gold [and probably wil be salvaged by an ET before finding the data put on it!] but that one wa kinda special.....

cause if any are I can see a whole new bunch of ebay scrap headin to the forefront!.

There is some gold in the best CDs. I think I estimated the amount to be about 1-2 cents or less worth of gold per CD.

I have had MILLIONS of chances to recover THOUSANDS of cd's and dvd's for scrap! WHO KNEW???
Dang it all...oh well i'll return back to those companies and beg for a second chance...:)
