A two-part question since I don't currently have a fume hood :

1.
Must one use a fume-hood when running a small batch of copper electrolysis,
or are the fumes minimal after the solution has been made and the power is on?

2.
One needs to mix sulfuric acid after making the copper sulfate water solution before putting into the cell.
Can one do this slowly, safely outdoors while wearing appropriate gloves, goggles, face shield, protective clothing.

Safety and strict discipline first.
(And knowing how to deal with any spills and waste material).

Thanks.

1: i don't. Sulfuric does not evaporate until extremely Hot. You dont need a lot of free acid in the electrolyte.

Some hydrogen and oxygen can form if you run high current, but some natural ventilation will be enough to get rid of it. I turn the current down until it's below 'bubbling level'.

2: add sulfuric to water and you're fine. It will not get much warmer then a couple degrees rise.
Gloves and googles are recommended always when handeling chemicals.
