crushing chips/boards

so i hear its better to crush sum boards/ chips as they have gold inside, so lets say u was saving up gold bits in a bin /buckett , this is my question- wud it be better crushin the lot down as much as possabule so u cud fit more in the bin /buckett or just process whats there , is there a down fall to crushin -,, thanks kev , and very nice site nice info thanks for it
