Dealing with refiner

Hi to all,

I read this forum for about 2 monts and I learned alot , but it is time for me to ask some questions. I get about 150-200 kilograms of mobile phones every week, I have tried to extract the gold myself, strating with 200 phones and I got just 1 gram of gold, i have lost most of the gold through the washing process after AP ......anyway, I decided to start accumulate these mobile phones and work with refiner here in Europe and in particular Umicore in Belgium. I e-mailed them asking what is the minimum quantity and what i should expect in gold and other PM from 1ton mobile phones with no batteries. Their answer was that they require min 2 tons and payment will be made after assay of the scrap and it takes 2 monts. So here are my questions if someone of you knows more about it

Do I need to have any special licences to work with a refiner?

What are the charges and fees of the refiner ?

There are several Fees:
These numbers may not apply to you though... these are just rough general numbers.

Lot charge - 300 eur (+-50) (2 tons is usually cosidered a - lot)
Treatment - 1.20 eur (+-0.2) per received Kg

then you have accountability
usually above 95% for Pt, Au and Ag
and around 85% for Cu and Pd

From that return you deduct refining charges for each element (by the kg).

Your welcome.

It really pays to send out higher grade material even at such low amounts.
Anywhere from 350 to 500 g/ton au is possible for cell phone scrap.
Not really sure about other elements thogh.
