Hi there
Looking for a experienced hobbiest refiner in western canada. I have some gold and platinum ore leached powder needing refined. This will be on going. Xrf test on the material show good values. Anyone?

Rayo13 I'm not in Canada but I would suggest a fire assay to get some proper results that you and whoever refines your material can work to. Xrf results are usually far from accurate on powders and with mixed metals the percentages can get badly skewed and this can cause problems if your expecting much more values than are actually there, it's possible that there are more but I would not want to refine this for you based on xrf results there's to much room for disagreements and accusations.

If you talk about handheld xrf gun then you have to properly and thoroughly melt your sample, cast and scan from all sides. Then remelt again and repeat. Compare all scans to get an idea what is inside.
XRF can only scan surface it will not penetrate deep.

I don't trust XRF readings anymore, only real way to verify what U got is to smelt it, first straight up with Soda-Ash- then with a 3 part flux. Some concentrates do better with aqua-regia first. Platinum stuff is difficult to deal with, as the melting temp. is very high. I would be interested in doing your refining to solid state, I have a number of secret methods I use. Gabor J Kadar Lookup GOLDWORX INC on F-Book

I like them gold bars your pouring there goldworx. What testing method do you use for selling them to the market?
