I was recently given the following quotes for gold karat scrap from a government subsidized company in Asia. The quotes seem way too low. Is this legitimate?

Product Type Minimum Order Price/Kg (USD) Stock Avail.

Gold Scrap 14 karat 20kg 590 560
18 karat 11kg 721 189kg
22 karat ----- ----- -----
24 karat 13kg 1185 780kg

Maybe there are contaminants like Hg?

At present, almost anyone can sell their gold for 98%. Therefore, whenever gold, in alloy form, is sold for less than 98% of it's value, it definitely raises a red flag.

Thats what I was thinking. I'll probably ask to get a small sample for testing. Should be interesting.

Well the price for the 24k is 12% below spot and for the karat scrap even lower
Buyer beware might be the advise here.

Some from more succesfull scamers have contacts and can arrange necessary paperwork.
