Hmm, that arrangement looks familiar. I think I yanked apart a board like that. Not too much of value, but those little Al caps have thick walls and melt nicely in the huge cast iron incinerator tube I have. After they pop and burn! Sounds like popcorn, lol.
I've found a decent method to recover much of the aluminum in those caps that costs me nothing. Just my brick furnace, a cast iron pipe, and firewood (all free). The caps are roughly 50% Al by weight overall, and I can recover a bit more than half of it. After two years of stripping boards, I collected about 30 pounds of the canister caps. So I can recover about 7 pounds of aluminum. Al is fun to melt and pour! :]
