gold colored costume jewelry

Just because junk jewelry looks gold in color does that mean it is gold plated? I know only copper and gold are the only non-white metals. If gold colored jewelry is not gold plated how do they get that look? :?:

And some are gold electroplate, but it's so thin, ( less thatn .175k) that it can't be mark as having gold. In reality it's just gold colored. Remember, gold can be so thin, that you can see thru it. I had a welding hood with a gold coated UV filter. So do astronauts helmets. It would take a lot of those items to make it worth the while.
If my math is right, .175k is worht .29cents @ todays spot.
