Pyrolizing is well suited for plastic waste and all kind of plastic trash, so if one have access to sufficient amounts for free it can be done.
Even creating proper fuels.
But then it it have to be transformed into a form that is usable for your processes.
The efficiency are not going to be great.

As i see it its all about the setup. A turbine( with magnet generator on its axel) can heat an oven pretty good. If you can use the waste heat from the turbine you actually have a pretty good system. A electrisity/heat system can be very efficient. (if you have the usage for it)

Any alternative to the current system of burning Carbon fuels in a combustion engine, when considering a more efficient down stream Carbon foot print, is in my book all right. At least that seems to be the popular ideology being handed out these days.
One of the biggest problems in the US, is getting a mining permit. Even if it is a 1 man show. Perhaps showing you are attempting to be "green", even if it isn't, is enough to sway the beuroughcrats to your side.
